About the course
Test Valley Golf Club is south west of Basingstoke located 1.5 miles south of Overton with easy access from the A303 Micheldever Station and Overton turn off 1.5 miles away. The club proves to be a popular venue for golfers to meet as it is highly accessible travelling from London, Reading, Oxford, Bath, Andover, Winchester and Southampton, using the nearby major routes such as M3, A34 and A303.
Located in idyllic Hampshire country side the course was designed in 1991 by Don Wright and European Tour Veteran Eamon Darcy. The Par 71 course measures 6703 yards from the championship tees and 6053 yards from the tees of the day. The Ladies course measures 5558 yards and has a par of 72. We also have a blue course ideal for juniors, beginners and seniors measuring 5132. These teeing options make the course a challenging but fair test of golf for all abilities.
When first opened the course quickly gained the reputation for for its fine tight turf on the Rye grass fairways and its excellent drainage due to the chalk downland terrain. Test Valley is now a mature Downland course and has been rewarded with a brilliant reputation for great playing surfaces all year round play whatever the weather conditions.
The course possesses some prominent bunkers in particular the new riveted style bunkers on the 3rd right hand green side, 7th fairway bunkers and 7th left hand greenside, 15th greenside, 17th fairway bunkers and the 18th greenside bunkers.
The course enjoys some water features with a fantastic mix of long and short holes ensure that no two holes are the same. The two loops of nine return neatly to the clubhouse.
