About the course
Founded in 1886 by Colonel W Bannatyne, Major W Pontifex and Mr E L Hooper, Guildford Golf Club is the oldest Club in Surrey! Originally six holes, the course was extended to eighteen holes in 1901 and a new Clubhouse was built on the present site.
Situated on Merrow Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Guildford Golf Club is a traditional downland course and offers a challenging round that plays longer than its yardage suggests! The views from the course are exceptional and include Guildford Cathedral, the Wembley Arch and the City of London, as well as panoramic views of the Surrey countryside from all holes on the course.
