About the course
Halifax Bradley Hall Golf Club is celebrating its centenary year in 2007. The golf club was the dream of a handful of men living in the Holywell Green and Stainland area. The dream became reality in July 1906 when they started playing on a small piece of rented land near to the present golf course.
This soon proved inadequate and the following February a lease on 43 acres adjoining the present golf course became effective and the golf club was born. Alex Herd, the Huddersfield professional and former Open champion, advised on the layout of the new nine hole golf course which unusually finishes with a 156 yards par 3 hole. It’s usually played across the prevailing wind with a ravine to the right, out of bounds to the left and a bunker front left of another ‘McKenzie’ green. Not surprisingly, it’s ruined many a good scorecard…
