About the course
The town of Melton Mowbray is the birthplace of Stilton Cheese and the humble pork pie but sadly its golf course, Melton Mowbray Golf Club, will never become as internationally famous. Having said that, it’s a fair and decent if unexciting track. When we visited it was in reasonable condition though some of the tees were on the scabby side. The lack of space means the course is a bit ‘bomb alley’ in places. The round is brought to a thrilling end with a cracking par 4, its rolling linksy fairway leading to a slightly raised green.
Melton Mowbray Golf Club was founded in 1925, the nine hole layout being extended to a full 18 holer in 1991. The 18 holes are laid out over 6222 yards of undulating rolling parkland with excellent views over the surrounding countryside.
